I've seen the task below as a lingucomponent's *todo* item.

I'm interested in taking this task and use it as an undergraduate project.
So, I would like to understand, more detailed, what are the necessities :
1. What would be a cleaner code ? I mean, what are the requirements ?
2. By standalone version of patgen, what do you mean ? An aplication
(gui/CLI interface + logics + libraries) ?
Patgen is an application which comes with TeX, right ? Are we talking
about this version of patgen or other one ? I've found "oPatgen" on google.
Please explain me about the importance of this task, as I have to give
arguments about the undergraduate project.
Any doc/reference is welcome.
