also, is the problem simply that since the techie has stuck the keyboard
on, your remote access software no longer passes the relevant windows key
press from your own keyboard to the server? couldn't he remove his
keyboard to fix this?

Hi,

Sorry for the OT, but this is driving me mad!

I have experienced a problem with Windows where now and again it acts as if
the Windows key on my keyboard is pressed down. Hence, if I press 'e' it
loads up My Computer, if I press 'r' the run box comes up.

Now, my usual solution to this problem is to "mash" the Windows key and all
those around it; after a few seconds of frantic key pressing it resolves
itself.

However, this now appears to be happening on my remote server after a
technician stuck a keyboard in earlier today for a reboot. The remote
access software does not register pressing the Windows key on my keyboard;
it seems to apply the event to my machine and doesnt pass it through to the
remote server.

Has anyone experienced this and know how to fix it without having to
explain my mash theory to a technician over the phone? Last resort is to
reboot the server again, but I really dont want to go that far for
something so seemingly petty.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Andy Hall.
