With geo3d, though, the splits are rectangular solids in (x,y,z), not
rectangles on the sphere surface. That's kind of why I was confused by your
graphic, which looked nothing like a geo3d BKD split that I know of. One area
looked like a circle, and the other was the pointy tip of a very long polygon
(?). So either the shape was a circle and the split made no sense, or the split
was a circle and the shape was a bizarre one?
