We've seen tons of instances of people wanting to send in queries of more than
1024 terms. Making them edit a config file first is very unfriendly. It's
*really* unfriendly if the system is already in production.
We don't limit the size of a query in bytes, the number of prefix queries, or
fuzzy queries, or range queries, or any other query clauses that can take a
large amount of resources. We shouldn't limit the number of clauses in general
either - it made sense in the past, but it no longer does.
