+1 non-binding I tested with OpenJDK Java 8 on Linux x86_64 with a variety of projects. Everything looks good, the only new behavior I'm seeing is a warning:
[WARNING] The project <<project:version>> uses prerequisites which is only intended for maven-plugin projects but not for non maven-plugin projects. For such purposes you should use the maven-enforcer-plugin.
