Only speaking for myself, I would like to stress that I stepped back from the PMC for purely personal reasons. Though it certainly facilitated my decision, the events that occupied the PMC at the time are in no causal relation to my retirement.
Said events will hopefully be explained by some representative of the PMC or the Apache board, all maven devs and the community have a right to know what's going on.
