You should start sending the CCLA/ICLA via FAX to the ASF, so that it
will be more easy later to get you on a repository :-)
I agree that it is better to get a repo in place and contribute there.
Working solo is a slippery slope. Over the years at ASF I've heard
from people working solo who intended to contribute back but it rarely
happens. Now, in just the last 6 months, I had to fork a project to
hit some work goals and I'm wondering if I'll ever get a chance to
contribute back my code (which I still intend to do). Though, in that
case, the code I forked needed a serious overhaul.
