Hi Aaron, On my Dell Mini10, using the IVI set-up as described in the IEGD user guide, I get the following sequence at boot:
GRUB graphical screen (with Moblin background) Select "Boot" and I get some text trace output from the kernel. The screen then clears to just a blinking cursor. X starts. (Note that I am booting from a USB flash memory stick, although this is probably unimportant.) Is this the same as your result? You didn't mention seeing any trace.
