Sorry for being difficult here, but.. To be exact nmgr_uart came after newtmgr-over-shell. The reason it came to be was smaller memory footprint platforms, and assumption was that folks might still want option to newtmgr-over-uart after their dev was done. It got picked up for serial bootloader initially as it was small in size, and easy to integrate.
I’m going to vote -1 for removing it.
