Looks like a pattern to me. :-) I have not found a relevant issue about this (some are related to the automatic update of course). Should we file one? Why? It seems absolutely clear to me that the automatic update notifications are disabled on purpose (i.e., intentionally not activated) on some non-SUN builds. Just read Pavel Janik's comments in http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=88255 So you'd better question the build provider about his choices rather than open an issue.
This is an important feature. Losing it just because you're a "non-Sun language" is not something our users are going to understand or accept.
We need to ask if there is any interested organization or company, or even temporary funding, which could help us set up the services needed to support this feature for all languages.
Evidently it is too much for Pavel to do on his own, and that's perfectly understandable. He already does a great deal to help us. But it's something that needs to be done, so we have to find a way to do it.
What resources are needed? What process needs to be followed? What _can_ we do to resolve this? from Clytie Vietnamese Free Software Translation Team http://vnoss.net/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=projects:l10n
