I'm inclined to agree with Alex that not every open-source plugin can or should become part of NetBeans out of the box. The more that's added to the core IDE, the more needs to be checked and maintained for each release. There's also a middle ground between third-party plugins and the IDE, where we might consider plugins donated and developed at ASF in separate repos and still under their own release cycles? Perhaps the thing to look at in the IDE would be improving the plugin experience and signposting, eg. on the start page?
