I'm not sure that WYSIWYG (in original post) is exactly the term I'd use to describe NetBeans, but I agree with that principle, and for me a lot of NetBeans' benefit here comes from a perspective of "no surprises". What does "integrate" there mean to you? If that includes relying on or shipping with, that opens the same set of problems we had (and somewhat still have) with nb-javac. Same ASF legal process to jump through, same CPE auditing to put in place, and same problems of relying on something with a much lower user and developer base that cannot be developed or supported here within ASF. In my opinion, Frgaal brings to mind the Emperor's New Clothes, but then to a large extent so does Kotlin. Doesn't mean I disagree with supporting end user use of both as best we can.
