Just wanted to mention an idea I had: add a new group "Examples" alongside
applications and specialpurpose and hot-deploy (maybe replacing
specialpurpose?).

It should be easy to enable/disable the entire group in one go. So new
developers have it easily available, it is easy to enable for demos, and
easy to disable for production.

It could have multiple components, rather than just example and exampleext.
Each component could showcase best practice for a particular function. For
example, there could be one component for Ajax widgets, and one for
Jackrabbit, and so on. I think individual example components would be
easier to maintain than one or two large ones.

Projects in Extras could include a sample component that gets installed in
Examples, showing example code using that Extra.

Having support for Extras examples in core might encourage Extras
developers to provide good sample code.

Cheers,
Anne.
