Without it, each thread would have to go to the KMS to unwrap a key. By making the cache static, we provide the KEK to all threads (with the same token), if one of them has already unwrapped it. Will add this to the comments. We'll check the use of singletons for this. The three maps/caches are not identical, but we'll make an effort to unify the cache handling.
