I apologize if this is obvious... Does this support rolling upgrades?
In the sense that during the rolling upgrade period old and new client might
access the cluster at the same time...
That means either the new client understands both the new and old format (and
we can delay the upgrade until all client are upgrade), or both the old and the
new client understand both the old and new format.
