Having a (working!) shortcut key for Repeat is useful if you need to use a lot of character styles in your document. For example, if i need certain words on my page to use the "highlighted comment" character style, i just type everything, select one comment, and apply the style. After that i just select and Repeat. This is much less cumbersome than using, say, the stylist, which would require a lot of mouse work.
