I like the idea of 5.0. On Jan 18, 2009, at 7:36 AM, Dave <[email protected]> wrote:
With the upcoming Media Blogging and Distributed Search changes combined with the work that is already in the Roller trunk we have the makings of major new Roller release this Spring. I don't think we should call this release 4.1 because it contains significant database schema changes and new features. I'd like to propose that the next release we make from trunk be called "5.0" and I've put together the following proposal: Apache Roller 5.0 - http://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/x/9aQB - Media blogging - Distributed search - Better pluggability - Upgrade dependencies, especially OpenJPA 1.x - Extensible user management - DONE - Tag Data API - DONE - OpenSearch suppport - DONE - OpenID for users - DONE Any objections to changing references to 4.1 to 5.0? - If not, I'll make the corresponding changes in JIRA Anybody else have features they would like to develop for to 5.0? What about the 4.0.x line? I'm going to focus almost exclusively on 5.0, but its possible that we could release another bug-fix release from the Roller 4.0 branch. It all depends on you: if you folks! If you submit the bugs and develop the fixes, I'll help you get them into the 4.0 branch and get a release out. - Dave
