@hmcl @harshach I have gone through the older kafka spout code in the past
and I share the same thought that code is quite complex. Nothing great if it
can be simplified even more. However, current kakfa spout works well and works
for many. So it would be good idea to stick as much as possible to behavior of
original kafka spout while at the same time leverage new consumer apis to
simplify the code wherever we can.
