Note that AWS labs already has a Kinesis spout:

Granted it's out of date with the release of 1.0, but that's likely just a
package rename and release. If this is something we want to maintain, we should
consider asking them to contribute it, rather than reinvent it, unless there
are significant functionality gaps.
