Thanks again @itaywol, 3.6-dev is fine as a base branch. In this case, these
changes would end up in the future 3.6.6 and 3.7.1 releases but not 3.5.8. I
think this is the right choice as I would like to see 3.5.x get slowly phased
out.
I will try to find some time to review this later today.
