Hi all,

thanks for the thoughts. Here is my _personal_ view:

I was inclined to start this discussion as user's are asking on
[email protected], stackoverflow and social media, what they can expect
regarding EOL dates for TomEE 1.7.x / 7.0.x / 7.1.x - we did not
release a maintainance or security update in > 1 year.

I agree with Alex, that we can expect to maintain 8.0.x for a long
period of time as javax.* while still be around some years.

In addition, I am inline with the view of JL. I would also expect to
mark 1.7.x as eol asap, then do the same with 7.0.x / 7.1.x a few
months later (maybe by doing a last release with updated libs /
tomcat).

I am also fine with switching 8.0.x to maintainance and go for EE9 on
the master branch. I think, that we should start the way towards EE9
(rename, test, tag it) and then we are ready to work on EE10 ;)

Hope, that other people will jump into this discussion :)

Gruß
Richard
