As some of you may know, we have been working on updating the MediaWiki
software (and the supporting applications) that the OpenOffice.org Wiki
is running on.
This is a small update on where we are, and what is happening.
The current OpenOffice.org Wiki is running on:
- MediaWiki 1.6.4
- PHP 5.0.4
- MySQL 4.1.15
This is being updated to:
- MediaWiki 1.11.0
- PHP 5.2.0
- MySQL 5.0.33
In addition to the engine update, we will also be installing a couple of
new extensions (in addition to the existing ones):
- SpecialInterwiki
- DisplayTitleExtension
- IDLTagExtension (a custom written tag to handle IDL tags in the
Developer's Guide documentation).
Functionally the updated Wiki looks and feels the same, but the updates
will allow us to use some of the new features and functionality
available in the latest version of MediaWiki.
This update is almost ready to go live. There are a few last tweaks to
finish up to the configuration and then it will be done.
We will be scheduling a half day sometime very soon (I don't have an
exact date yet, but hopefully we can schedule it in the next couple of
weeks) where the Wiki will be locked for edits while we update
the database on the server. The update day will be announced on the
[EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list and on the Wiki as well.
