I don't like the idea of having unbalanced tags in the vm snippets and
to have to surround the contents with both a div and another time within

Well - are you sure? That's why we got the crumbs, the project's
hierarchy-links.
(Projects > nl) - nl brings you to nl's mainpage.

I feel it should point to www.openoffice.org

another page with "regular" content should be added instead to have an
easy way to verify without a specially crafted page.

And as you see, the left toolbars is centered vertically (or moved down
way too much) - while for the frontpage (www main-page) it is disabled
anyway, the regular pages should have it at the top, without the need to
scroll. (but as there are no other styles included than those for the
new design itself, that's not a big deal, one needs to add the styles
for IZ and the ML, CVS-Browser, etc anyway)
