Louis, Marcin,

If you want to do it for the news page, too, be my guest! You can pull
the page directly using nonav. You can also try out samples on your
project or on website.

Actually, nonav makes no difference to me - the script simply assumes that the structure of the page is fixed and silently ignores all the stuff. Eventually, the script should be hosted on a machine with a cron (maybe on the same machine in Hamburg to that the John's planet system would be moved).

I think we also need to make a decision on how to do it in the future. Now
we are manually updating a HTML page... allowing for all kinds of errors,
since HTML code is produced by a human. I think in the long run it would
be better to use e.g. a blog system (e.g. the one build into collabnet ;),
but anything that produces RSS is ok ) to write and publish news, and
republish this on the OOo website, using a similar technique as used at
marketing planet. Another advantage of this would be that there is an
always available archive of old news postings...

Yes, the blog system has an advantage, and we should actually be using it (if it's built into collabnet, then why not?).

On the other hand, an RSS system is better than none... and since I want
to focus on other stuff now for a while...

OK, I'll probably give it a go during the weekend and post the link to the RSS file.

BTW, it's pretty simple to build an archive system this way as well - based on diffs from CVS. All it takes is a couple of one-liners and half an hour to look at the actual logs.

best,
Marcin
