In the template, I'm using the link syntax [[VI/Extensions|VI]]. Is this correct? In the Template:Extensions_languages page, the syntax you're looking for is: [[vi:VI/Extensions]]
You know, I tried just about every possible permutation except that. ;)
I've added the VI link, and it works... well it points to an empty page right now located at VI/Extensions. You should be able to load your translated page in the "right" spot now.
Great! Thankyou. :) Page loaded and saved. It's a bit confusing for the user, that we have a language-list frame further down the left-hand side, but we also have some language-links listed in the template frame on the RHS, which is much more obvious. Do we need to remove the language-links from the RHS template?
I'm also unsure about translating the other elements in that template. If I edit that template, translating the English text, what do I need to do to ensure the Vietnamese translation is only viewed on the Vietnamese pages?
The rest of the languages in the template are using [[Extensions_nn]], where "nn" is the language code, and that creates the page "http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Extensions_nn ". But I think that is no longer the approved format.I would say it is not preferred but, if that is how the pages are created, that's fine. We can look at using a WikiBot to move them if it is necessary at some point. For now, there is no need to change them. This is something I'd like to bring up with the L10N leads at some point... but that's a subject for a different email thread.
Yes, I'd wondered about that, because I've translated other wikipages into Vietnamese, and I have a nasty feeling that the links are in different formats, based on what other languages did for each page. I would like to clean all those up, and I agree with you that we need to talk about this on the NLC list.
