Now.. just one more question and then I will be quiet :). The wiki has
no underline for links (only for mouseover), while the homepage does.
This is a pretty big difference, and in terms of accessibility for a
small proportion of color blind users it could be a problem if the
only cue for a link is color. The question then is, do we have
underlines for wiki links? Or do we have no underlines on the
homepage? Or do we keep the two separate?

Well I'll weigh in...two comments

* if the goal is to "sync" the two sites in terms of look and feel, then
the active link styling should be the same IMO
* and yes, for accessibility purposes, I think we should have active
links underlined as well.

Not sure how this plays in, but there are pages on the Wiki written in Vietnamese and if I am not mistaken underlining causes a problem, so at a minimum you would need to account for that.

If we look to one of the the biggest sites using MediaWiki - Wikipedia _ they are using the default MedaiWiki settings for links... underline on links only shows up on hover. This is what the OpenOffice.org Wiki is using as well.

If we add underlines on all active links, some pages (or parts of pages) will become really unreadable.

As it stands, active links to external webpages are shown as a different color (ie standard blue link) and with a small graphic. On mouse hover the link is underlined. On intrawiki links, it is the same, but with no graphic. Navigation by keyboard also works in a fairly standard way (ie press Tab to move though the active links, and the current link with keyboard focus has a grey box around it).

This in combination with potential issues created by permanent underlines on other languages used in the Wiki leads me to suggest we leave it as is.
