Clayton,
I set up the TOC as a transclusion for two reasons.
First, in this particular guide, the proper "next page" is rather open
to question. Hence, it doesn't need the full navigation ability of the
standard TOC template, nor want it.
Second, the non-template should be easier for wiki-non-pros to maintain.
I even put instructions on the Talk page of the Introduction.
I'd very much like to know why you went to all the work of changing to a
template.
I missed the bit on the Talk page. I converted to a "standard" TOC
simply for consistency across the docs. Adding the navigation in made
sense as I looked at the doc evolution... but it's easy to roll back.
Editing the TOC template is no different than editing any other page (no
easier, and no harder since it's just a bullet list).
Next/prev page are not a required part of the TOC template concept...
they can be turned on/off... as I've done on the pages.
It's simple to roll back to the transclude concept as well.
C.
Thanks for the elucidation.
If you would do one thing that would take me a lot of poking around to
do right: on the Talk page, if you would replace the link and the
example call, I'll clean up the rest of the wording.
My target audience for those instructions is someone who knows a lot
about building, but not very much about wiki-editing. I'm trying to KISS.
AFK until tonight.
