We had below issue as well,

sed: illegal option -- r

usage: sed script [-Ealn] [-i extension] [file ...]

       sed [-Ealn] [-i extension] [-e script] ... [-f script_file] ...
[file ...]

Above error generated when we try to execute

line 549 sed-r -i -e 's@^(\s*)(<transportConnector
name="amqp".*\s*)$@\1<!--\2-->@g' $activemq_path/conf/activemq.xml

will do some testing and get to you with the results.
