Lukas Tinkl (ltinkl) is finishing his KDE HALsectomy. It's not easy - 
without nasty hacks (and copying code from HAL as some other DEs does ;-).

Wayland seems like long distant future but I'm looking forward to see it -
together with Plasma Desktop ported on top of Qt Scene Graph, wow - heaven
is melting ;-)
