Yes, I made the following soft links:

$ ls -ltr /usr/bin/python*
lrwxrwxrwx 1 ssheikh Domain Users 27 Dec  5 15:19 /usr/bin/python ->
/cygdrive/c/Python33/python
lrwxrwxrwx 1 ssheikh Domain Users 27 Dec  5 15:20 /usr/bin/python3 ->
/cygdrive/c/Python33/python

And with no -i..the cygwin just sits there when you just enter python

ssheikh@GS66-MSAGPC3 ~
$ python
