Hum. That does seem to be the case, which it shouldn't be; we have
done a little bit of customization to Mailman, which seems to be
interfering in the standard approach --

Clicking the link in the mails points to the website, where upon, if
the button's activated, a mail is sent, by the software (Mailman), to
that email address asking to confirm the action -- either by replying
to the mail with a string, or visiting the site, again, and thence
confirming the action -- is the normal GNU Mailman (without
modifications) approach.

Consider it bug-reported.
Trimming mails, of course, may help, but is not a solution.
