I think tomcat 4.1 is now called 'stable', so perhaps we can as well advice
to use tomcat 4.1 (as soon as mmbase 1.6 is released)? Tomcat 4.1 also
produces much faster code.
And has a few issues:( But I think by the time MMBase-1.6 will be
released Tomcat 4.1 can be adviced, but we still need to try to be
tomcat 4.0.x compatible, because a lot of users can't upgrade their
server every time.....
But I do think the jsp-editors can not be considered 'core' mmbase. If they
fail to work on tomcat 4.0, then that is too bad. Feel free to fix it, but
since I consider
1. this a problem of tomcat, not of mmbase
It's a combination of problems iirc. jsp-editors-jsps are maybe a little
bit complex, tomcat produces a lot of code and the java-compiler has a
limit on method-size.
2. the jsp-editors to be replacable (SCAN-editors, alternative editors of
e.g. andre)
That's true, but we have to communicate this to the users.
I don't really feel like spending effort on this issue myself. Especially
because the combination tomcat 4.0/taglib seems to be to slow for actual use
any way. (and that would seem really hard to fix on the mmbase side)
