You have to turn on the following modules for SCAN to work properly:

calc (math)
info (system info commands)
mmbase (basic SCAN commands)
mmedit (for the SCAN editors)
mmlanguage (prompts for the SCAN editors)
scanparser (essential parser)
session (maintain user info)

There is a full explanation in the MMBase Demos page on hwo tot turn on SCAN. This should also be included in the release notes.
