I'm note really in favor mainly because it is not in storage classes, which should eventually replace the old support classes. Iow, if we add it now as is, we have to rewrite it later.
I also have some concerns concerning performance (but that may be unfounded with large dbs).
While storing stuff in multiple fields is rather icky, it only has overhead when writing. Storing stuff in one field may give overhead when reading (which happens more often).
