To be honest I would think that it would be more beneficial
to mmbase to join forces with other community parties and
collectively develop one tool that really rocks, in stead of
having various tools that overlap and all miss functionality.
Wouldn't you agree? ernst

No I don't. I prefer whatever route I think is best fit to create a good
tool. Joining forces is sometimes an option, but in this case it wasn't.

In addition, I think a bit of competition between tools may be a good thing too.

hear hear i 100% agree, working in teams is nice but many times doesn't fit
the time or needs model of the company in question. Its a managers view to
think a opensource project should be managed as a product in a company its
not its a mix of combined and competion at best.

As a side note, packaging uses a new format for several files and they are all open
to discussion im wondering when the time is right to get some people in a team to
discuss the new file formats for persistance of models and data in xml.
