As a side note, packaging uses a new format for several files and they are all open to discussion im wondering when the time is right to get some people in a team to discuss the new file formats for persistance of models and data in xml.
In due time I'd like to join the discussion.
At Quantiq we rely heavily on the present "application" format, both for
persisting the model (our uml2MMBase tool) and data (the full-backup
facility we donated last year). We simply can't live without it.
Well its 100% clear some convert or reader of the old format has to be supplied, we can't
have a system that doesn't read the old files.
