Spaces are a concern, but everything currently works with them in place. 
Infact, everything currently works as things stand right now. If we decide to 
remove spaces and non alphanumeric characters from the id attribute in 2.0, 
great, I think that would be a considered a valid and needed clean up. Swinging 
to the extreme of using a GUID for the id, no, I do not think that is necessary.

Simple spaces already give rise to 'changes' in the Id.

Address DMAP-84 [which you opened *after* I raised the issue and it
dawned on you...] and that fixes it for now, for you...
