root directory enter the command mysql. Do you get this:
[root@e-smith /root]# mysql
Welcome to the MySQL monitor. Commands end with ; or \g.
Your MySQL connection id is 250 to server version: 3.23.32
Type 'help;' or '\h' for help. Type '\c' to clear the buffer
mysql>
Type exit to return to the command prompt.
