Sticking with an old release and doing point upgrades may make it
harder to upgrade over time. You may not see any of the work which goes
on "under the covers", but the underlying code base is changing quite
substantially over time.

We do our best to make upgrades seamless and roll relevant package
updates into the next release. That's all part of product engineering
so that people don't have to perform the manual updates.
