It works for me and I have not heard any similar complaints.  What OS/java
are you using?  I would like to try it.  Did the counter ever work?  Perhaps
you can see a change in cvs that likely caused it?  If possible could you
look at it yourself and suggest a change?  Has anyone else seen this?
