Not necessarily -- what if the person just happens to be reading Pigdog Journal someplace where Pigdog Journal is illegal. It's easily possible for all the HTML and images to be in the node's datastore but not in the browser cache. As Peter Todd pointed out, web sites in Freenet have the same "deniability" problem as split files. Freenet chess, Freenet chat, and other applications will have the same problem too. If you want deniability, I think you pretty much have to take Peter's suggestion and don't cache anything requested by a local client -- don't just blame split files. -- Don Marti "I've never sent or received a GIF in my life." dmarti at zgp.org -- Bruce Schneier, Secrets and Lies, p. 246. http://zgp.org/~dmarti/ (Free the Web: http://burnallgifs.org/) _______________________________________________ Devl mailing list Devl at freenetproject.org http://lists.freenetproject.org/mailman/listinfo/devl >From - Tue Apr 24 17:32:21 2001 Return-Path: <devl-admin at freenetproject.org> Received: from hawk.freenetproject.org (postfix@[4.18.42.11]) by funky.danky.com (8.9.3/8.8.7) with ESMTP id NAA06025 for <danello at danky.com>; Tue, 24 Apr 2001 13:42:37 -0400 Received: from hawk.freenetproject.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by hawk.freenetproject.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 2231558029; Tue, 24 Apr 2001 11:23:39 -0700 (PDT) Delivered-To: devl at freenetproject.org Received: from priss.bad-people-of-the-future.san-francisco.ca.us (priss.bad-people-of-the-future.san-francisco.ca.us [216.103.68.5]) by hawk.freenetproject.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id C63D757FF5 for <devl at freenetproject.org>; Tue, 24 Apr 2001 11:22:39 -0700 (PDT) Received: from evan by priss.bad-people-of-the-future.san-francisco.ca.us with local (Exim 3.22 #1 (Debian)) id 14s7O9-0002ng-00 for <devl at freenetproject.org>; Tue, 24 Apr 2001 11:18:13 -0700 To: devl at freenetproject.org Subject: Re: [freenet-devl] streaming media on freenet References: <20010423200050.C30190 at indiana.edu> <Pine.OSF.4.33.0104232226190.12547-100000 at moe.cc.utexas.edu> <20010424125633.C24428 at mh246001.truman.edu> <20010424111204.J381 at zgp.org> From: "Mr.Bad" <[email protected]> Organization: Pigdog Journal X-PGP-Fingerprint: 91F8 6B2D EBEA 8D7A 3F20 E5B0 6D97 B3BC F498 A1D9 In-Reply-To: <20010424111204.J381 at zgp.org> Message-ID: <87k84arwka.fsf at priss.bad-people-of-the-future.san-francisco.ca.us> User-Agent: Gnus/5.09 (Gnus v5.9.0) Emacs/21.0.102 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Sender: devl-admin at freenetproject.org Errors-To: devl-admin at freenetproject.org X-BeenThere: devl at freenetproject.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.0.3 Precedence: bulk Reply-To: devl at freenetproject.org List-Help: <mailto:devl-request at freenetproject.org?subject=help> List-Post: <mailto:devl at freenetproject.org> List-Subscribe: <http://lists.freenetproject.org/mailman/listinfo/devl>, <mailto:devl-request at freenetproject.org?subject=subscribe> List-Id: Discussion of information related to Freenet development <devl.freenetproject.org> List-Unsubscribe: <http://lists.freenetproject.org/mailman/listinfo/devl>, <mailto:devl-request at freenetproject.org?subject=unsubscribe> List-Archive: <http://lists.freenetproject.org/pipermail/devl/> Date: 24 Apr 2001 11:18:13 -0700 X-Mozilla-Status: 8011 X-Mozilla-Status2: 00000000 X-UIDL: 3adbdd6c000001c4 Status: O Content-Length: 969 Lines: 19
