This is probably beating a dead horse, but the DigitalFountain codes are great for multicast, but suck when applied to unicast delivery. You can read up on this yourself, but basically they have a great technology for multicast networks, however, since that market is non existant they are trying to force fit it to work in unicast environemtns, and it isnt so great there.
