Written in what language? C, I suppose. It's not a bad idea. I see some
issues with dialup users downloading the installer, disconnecting, and
then trying to run it.

I've also been contemplating for a while having a Java applet that
installs Freenet for you. That way you don't even have to download
anything. I've seen such a thing work before. I'm still wary of Java
applets, though. They're plagued by compatibility problems due to sucky
browser JVMs.
