Whenever I do check this code in, please don't expect "instant stability."
I feel that I'm making a lot of good architectural choices, but I think
it's reasonable given how much code has been / is being rewritten to
expect even more bugs at first.
Perhaps there should be an interim release now, and maybe several more
after I deploy the new datastore code and begin weeding out the bugs.
