I disagree. I think we should give darknet a reasonable chance before we
implement opennet, because it is necessary to build a big darknet in the
long run, and that will be throttled before it starts if we build an
opennet immediately. As Oskar stated once, he can find people for a
WASTE cell very easily. I believe exponential growth of a darknet is
entirely feasible and realistic once it reaches a certain level. What is
necessary to reach that level is bugfixing and continued slow growth.

Chinese users need a darknet (if the administrators of the firewall
aren't complete imbeciles, which is a subject of some debate). French
users will need a darknet in the very near future. Because in both
countries freenet is either illegal, soon will be illegal, or is blocked
in some way.
