I.e. take the N2NTM and interface it to Jabber. https://bugs.freenetproject.org/view.php?id=208 > * Hosting chatrooms for selected peers What exactly are we talking about here? Channels hosted on specific peers, just for their neighbours? Perhaps one channel per node, maybe named after the node. If the channels have names and identities distinct from the nodes hosting them, then that is far more complex, as they would need to be bridgeable. And then we get into pub/sub etc. However it is feasible: We could do an unrouted pub/sub, which doesn't use freenet routing at all, is invitation only, and which exploits the darknet to provide a web of trust in order to ban spammers. > * Sharing local folders with selected peers I agree, but Ian doesn't. One of the SoC proposals was for this kind of stuff, sadly we turned it down. Personally I think anything that helps to build the darknet is important. As far as "selected peers" go, we can either roll everything into trust levels, or we can have specific per peer settings. > * Blog entries, visible to selected peers, with comments Good idea. > * Introductions: help peers who've decided they trust one another to > exchange references (obviously a MITM attack is possible, so they should > be nagged until they've confirmed the key fingerprints face-to-face) Definitely a good idea. Of course we would need some sort of key fingerprints to verify. > > IM and file sharing would make WASTE redundant; blogs and introductions > would make Myspace redundant (provided it's possible to embed huge > animated backgrounds and shit music into your profile). LOL. Blogs could be published on freenet; this ties in with bookmark sharing. > > Cheers, > Michael -- Matthew J Toseland - toad at amphibian.dyndns.org Freenet Project Official Codemonkey - http://freenetproject.org/ ICTHUS - Nothing is impossible.
