But it makes life easier for the user. And isn't that what matters? And giving
examples is usually a sensible way to explain things, no? I don't care about
free advertising, I care about making it easy for the end user. Also, finding
good free open source HTML editors is not that easy in my experience, for
Windows everything is shareware or adware and always will be. :| However, we
should probably reorganise it. IMHO most people are lazy, so we should mention
Thingamablog *first* - provided that it works, does it?
Currently it says:
"You can anonymously upload a web site to Freenet ("insert a Freesite"). Once
it has been uploaded, it will remain on Freenet for as long as people continue
to access it occasionally. It is distributed across the network and therefore
also available if your computer is turned off. And the most important fact: If
the security level of Freenet has been configured properly it should be very
difficult to find out who has uploaded a Freesite.
Unfortunately we do not yet have a built-in wizard for inserting freesites. We
suggest you use jSite, this is a GUI tool for inserting freesites. You can get
the latest version of jSite from our web site, or you can get version 0.6.2
from Freenet (more information).
Once you have downloaded jSite, and constructed your website using an HTML
editor such as KompoZer (free) or Dreamweaver (commercial), work through one of
the following tutorials which are hosted on Freenet:
* Publish! - A short tutorial on how to insert freesites
* Freesite HOWTO - Another, longer tutorial on how to insert freesites
Alternatively, Thingamablog is a user-friendly blog generator, you can download
a Freenet-compatible version here or over Freenet."
Possible rewrite:
"You can anonymously upload a web site to Freenet ("insert a Freesite"). Once
it has been uploaded, it will remain on Freenet for as long as people continue
to access it occasionally. It is distributed across the network and therefore
also available if your computer is turned off. And the most important fact: If
the security level of Freenet has been configured properly it should be very
difficult to find out who has uploaded a Freesite.
The easiest option is to get Thingamablog. This is an application which will
let you create a Freenet blog (a "flog"), and will upload it for you. You can
download a Freenet-compatible version of Thingamablog from our web site here,
or over Freenet here.
If you want to make something other than a blog, or want to edit the HTML
yourself, you will need to create your web site in a WYSIWYG HTML editor such
as KompoZer. Currently we do not have a built-in tool for inserting freesites,
so you should get jSite from here, or from Freenet (more information about
jSite). Work through one of the following tutorials which are hosted on Freenet:
* Publish! - A short tutorial on how to insert freesites
* Freesite HOWTO - Another, longer tutorial on how to insert freesites
