Matt, makes total sense. I'm offering, not pushing. In fact, using BF as
a platform might not work very well (although I'm using BF 4.0 with some
tweaks as a CMS for blogfusion.com.. not a very robust or shareable
solution though).
As another possibility....
In BlogFusion 5.0, I've added the ability to create multiple blogs on
one installation. Could we offer DFWCFUG members their own dfwcfug.com blog?

That being said, while things like the home page are "blog-like" it's
not really a blog, so I don't want to shoehorn things if it's not a
good fit. Particularly with the home page I think if we just call it
a blog and use BlogFusion, that stands things on their head a bit.
Also, one of the other things I wanted to see happen with this project
is that the end result would be freely available to other CFUGs (or
any other organization who wanted to use it for that matter). So I'm
afraid if we go the BlogFusion + our own custom development route
we're going to wind up with something that's a bit hard to manage and
distribute. Any pre-existing package is going to have its own way of
doing things, its own database, etc. so management and maintenance
would be an issue in my mind as well.
That's not to say we shouldn't consider using BlogFusion for a blog
section of the site; I think this could be a very cool addition to the
overall landscape of what's available to our members. My concern
stems from thinking of the CFUG application as an application in and
of itself and the integration and management issues that may arise
from combining this application with something that exists
independently.
