first. I think it must be done anyway when moving to a DVCS, regardless
of the specific one or which hosting site we'd use.


I agree, separating out the proprietary stuff has other interesting possibilities such as a D front end written in D and integration with IDEs and analysis tools.

Of course all of this is possible now, but it'd make merging front end updates so much nicer.
