Come on: the C-style octal syntax is bad (see [1]) and can lead to strange bugs, so it's a huge win that it's finally killed, even if you don't like the new syntax :-) In general octal numbers are rarely needed (I guess), so the somehow clumsy octal!123 syntax doesn't matter. Also it's more readable (self-documenting) for someone not used to octal numbers than Python3's 0o123.
